KSDK: Abortion rights group launches statewide canvassing effort ahead of Amendment 3 vote

Stop the Ban Missouri kicked off a statewide canvassing effort Saturday, with volunteers going door to door to discuss Amendment 3 with voters.
TOWN AND COUNTRY, Mo. — Abortion rights advocates with Stop the Ban Missouri began a statewide door-knocking campaign Saturday to inform voters about Amendment 3, a proposed constitutional amendment that could reverse Missouri's current abortion restrictions.
"Today's all about community. It's all about talking folks about what's going to be on their ballot," said Stop the Ban spokesperson Tori Schafer.
"This isn't our first rodeo," she said. "It's not our first dance with direct democracy. When we passed the right to reproductive freedom in 2024, we know that the majority of Missourians were with us and politicians chose to ignore that."
The coalition started campaigning in St. Louis on Saturday, as well as in other cities across the state, such as Kansas City, Columbia, and Springfield.
"The folks that are knocking doors for us today, those are not paid canvassers. Those folks sitting in those seats, those are volunteers that are here to talk to their neighbors about why this issue is important to them," Schafer said.
The Missouri Republican Party posted online regarding Amendment 3 by saying, "Planned Parenthood has already resumed performing abortions across our state, and they’re not going to stop there."
