St. Louis Post Dispatch: Letter: Missouri voters already settled abortion rights. Vote 'no' on Amendment 3
By Libby Trammell, St. Louis
Missouri voters made clear in 2024 that we wanted to end the abortion ban and protect reproductive freedom, and to give people, with their families and doctors, control over private medical decisions.
It baffles and angers me that politicians are pushing Amendment 3 on the Nov. 3 ballot to attempt to overturn the will of the people and ban abortion rights. ("Missouri ballot measure would ban most abortions. But the question doesn’t say that," July 8, 2025.)
This is a clear attempt to subvert our votes and our voices. As a licensed clinical social worker, I have worked with abuse and assault survivors for over 10 years. I’ve seen firsthand how critical access to healthcare is. If passed, Amendment 3 will erase protections that are currently available to abuse survivors and ban abortion care that Missourians need to protect their health.
Politicians have proven they will try every dirty trick in the book to overturn our vote and ban abortion again. They’re trying to confuse us by using the same amendment number that legalized abortion rights in 2024, and most recently even taking taxpayer money to spread misinformation about the upcoming election. ("Missouri AG spends $167,000 in state funds on abortion PSA ahead of November vote," Sept. 2.)
I won’t be tricked by politicians and neither will the rest of Missouri. We meant what we said in 2024. Vote no on Amendment 3 in November.
